Preparing for the Arctic- 60 days to go!!!

I think that 60 days before departure is a good time to start writing...

Really amazing things have happened before this moment, where I am now. Plenty of surprising situations and movements between 4 countries occured to me, and I have met wonderful people, that have helped me to be on my way.. again.

I hope that one day I can share some more (before-this-moment-)stories with you. Maybe during the polar night I will write more? haha It will be 3 months 12 days completly daaaark, so it sounds like enough time to do many things:)

Ladies and gentlemen, I go to Arctic!! TADAAAAAAM

Exactly, The Polish Polar Station, Hornsund http://hornsund.igf.edu.pl/en/ , Spitsbergn for the 38th Polish Polar Expedition.

I will spend one, I hope entire, beautiful arctic year in group of 11, 3 girls with me, 8 guys, 10 Polish and 1 Slovak, namely, Karolina, Krysia, Jarek, Robert, Anton, Mateusz, Jacek, Konrad, Maciek, Tymek and me. Each of us have his/her little mission to complete and except me and Mateo, normally, to do different things. Beacuse me and Mateo we will substitute each other 24h/7 and like this over 1 year:D

But about this later, it would be to much blablabla at the beginning and I want you to read what I write during 1 year;)

Later, we will not be just 11 during entire year... we will have 3 dogs:D:D

And in addition, many people, some scientists will come during the year to make their own investigation (climate change, geophysics, ecology, biology, and so on..) completing the base up to 40 humans.

What is good, that finally I will deal with menthaly (and physically) stable people:d Haha, it is a joke of course;) however, to get here all of us we had to pass 17 rendez-vous with medical doctors, including my favourite meeting with psychiatrist and 3h psychotests. Yes yes..I was also surpristed that I have passed:D

The winter group is very interesting and I am pretty sure that the upcoming polar year will not be boring. We have already met each other several times on blabla meetings and we have trained in mountains together. haha, the week in mountains was hilarious. Something like official name was "Safety moving on glaciars" but it consisted basicaly on creating a trouble and than trying to deal with it:) And like this for 5 days. The game was more advanced every day, and sincerely complicated for me, however I think it was very good for the group to rescue each other many times. Believe me, that after falling down and being rescued by the collegues or pulling up 70+ kg of collegue with the rope with my own hands, I think we are all good friends now:) Amazing experience and I hope not to have use it in the real:)

Now is the time for more preparation related with the expedition. We have to plan a lot of things, like how much toothpaste to buy.. or which xbox games to take..

In May I will be very occupied. They will teach us more usefull things, but I do not know the details:D And maybe it is better to be surprised:D

Now about the name, it sounds hawaiian and cold. So it is beacause I want to conserve a bit of sun in the heart for the winter:)
