The dog is mine. No doubts. The friend of my life needs to get used to do the things with me and together we are working on this since Harpa was born:) We have already did 4 alone nights in 3 trapper's houses (called hus, I have to upload some pics of it) that are quite close to the Base. Yesterday was the time to go a bit further, to Pallfjordden. And moreover we had the purpose- we needed to clean there after some renovation work.
The weather was great, the sea was calm and even Harpa enjoyed her first boat trip. We went to the hus, but we couldn't open it. The first room was full of snow (up to the roof!) and we had to enter through one of the windows. It was complicated task since all windows are prepared for polar bear attack:) But by mixing our polar experience and creative thinking we could enter to the house and then fight with the snow from inside. The hus has 3 rooms, and only first one was in snow. Rest of it very sunny and cosy.
We prepared all stuff, the water was hot, the fireplace was giving the wonderful warm sensation, the bottle of wine was prepared on the table and everything was too perfect.. When everything was prepared to spend nice evening/ night in the hus, we had to escape very quickly. The ice pack was coming very quickly and we had to left the place in really hurry.
For about 100 m we had to fight with the floes to can pass with the boat and ice tried to crash us.. It was a bit fighting for survive. Later there were hight waves. My puppy hated it...
We arrived to the Station about 3 am. What a day... No photos from the way back- it was too stressful;)
